Zachary Levi Makes Broadway Debut In FIRST DATE Opposite Krysta Rodriguez

Tony® Award-winning producer Junkyard Dog Productions (Memphis) is proud to announce that leading man Zachary Levi, star of TV’s “Chuck,” Disney’s feature film Tangled and the upcomingThor: The Dark World, will make his Broadway debut starring opposite Broadway and television ingénue  Krysta Rodriguez (“Smash,” The Addams Family) in First Date, Broadway’s new romantic musical comedy.  Witha book byAustin Winsberg (“Gossip Girl”), music and lyrics by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner (Secondhand LionsTwice Charmed) and musical staging by Josh Rhodes (Rodgers & Hammerstein’s CinderellaFirst Date is directed by Bill Berry (Producing Director of The 5th Avenue Theatre).  Featuring Sara Chase (“Arrested Development,” The Toxic Avenger), Kristoffer Cusick (Wicked, Rent), Blake Hammond (Sister Act, Billy Elliot) and Kate Loprest (“Boardwalk Empire,” Hairspray), the cast of First Date also includes Vicki Noon (Wicked, Mamma Mia!). First Date begins performances Tuesday, July 9, 2013, and opens Thursday, August 8, 2013, at Broadway’s Longacre Theatre (220 West 48thStreet).  Additional casting to be announced shortly.

Tony Award winners Brent Carver and Chuck Cooper join the cast of ROMEO AND JULIET on Broadway

Tony Award-winning actor Brent Carver returns to Broadway this August, to play Friar Laurence in the new Broadway production of Shakespeare’s timeless love story Romeo and Juliet, starring international film star Orlando Bloom and Tony Award nominee Condola Rashad as Shakespeare’s titular star-crossed lovers.  Tony Award winner Chuck Cooper also joins the cast, taking on the role of Lord Capulet, in place of the previously announced Joe Morton, who is unable to continue with the production due to scheduling conflicts with his recurring role on a television series. 

As previously announced, the production will be directed by five-time Tony Award nomineeDavid Leveaux, and also stars two-time Tony Award nominee Jayne Houdyshell as the Nurse. Romeo and Juliet opens at Broadway’s Richard Rodgers Theatre onThursday, September 19, 2013 following preview performances from Saturday, August 24, 2013.

Mary-Louise Parker Returns to Broadway in THE SNOW GEESE

Manhattan Theatre Club (Lynne Meadow, Artistic Producer; Barry Grove, Executive Producer) and MCC Theater (Robert LuPone, Bernard Telsey, William Cantler, Artistic Directors; Blake West, Executive Director) will co-produce the world premiere of The Snow Geese, a new play by Sharr White, directed by Tony Award winner Daniel Sullivan, starring Tony and Emmy Award winner Mary-Louise Parker.

The strictly limited 11-week engagement of The Snow Geese will begin previews Tuesday, October 1 and open October 24, on Broadway at MTC’s Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street).

The Snow Geese marks the second collaboration between MTC, MCC, and playwright Sharr White. Complete Casting Announced for THE TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL Including Tom Wopat

Broadway veteran and two-time Tony Award nominee Tom Wopat will join the company of the upcoming Broadway revival of Horton Foote’s beloved classic, The Trip to Bountifulstarring the previously announced Cicely Tyson, Cuba Gooding, Jr,Vanessa Williams, and Condola Rashad. 

Directed by Michael Wilson, The Trip to Bountifulwill also feature Devon Abner, Curtis Billings, Pat Bowie, Leon Addison Brown, Arthur French, Susan Heyward, Bill Kux, Linda Powell and Charles Turner.

Emmy Award-winner Jane Lynch to Make Her Broadway Debut as Miss Hannigan in ANNIE

Emmy Award-winning actress Jane Lynch, who stars in the hit FOX television show “Glee” as ruthless cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester, will take on another great tyrannical role as evil orphanage matron Miss Hannigan in the new Broadway production of Annie at the Palace Theatre (1564 Broadway between 46th and 47th Streets).  Lynch, a stage veteran of Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre Company and The Second City, will be making her Broadway debut.  She will play Miss Hannigan for eight weeks only, from Thursday, May 16 through Sunday, July 14.  

Two-time Tony Award-winning actress Katie Finneran, who created the role of Miss Hannigan in the new production of Annie, will depart the production at a date to be announced, in order to begin filming a new NBC comedy series with Michael J. Maura Tierney and Courtney B. Vance join the cast of Nora Ephron’s LUCKY GUY

Emmy Award® nominee Maura Tierney and two-time Tony Award® nominee Courtney B. Vance have joined the cast of Lucky Guy on Broadway.  Tierney will be making her Broadway debut, while Vance will be returning to Broadway for the first time in 20 years.  The production stars two-time Academy Award®-winner Tom Hanks, making his Broadway debut, in a new play by three-time Academy Award®-nominee Nora Ephron and directed by two-time Tony Award®-winner George C. Wolfe.

The Royal Shakespeare Company and The Dodgers today announced the casting of the principal roles and the ensemble in the eagerly anticipated Broadway-bound musical Matilda The Musical. They are (alphabetically): Karen Aldridge (Mrs. Phelps), Gabriel Ebert (Mr. Wormwood), Lesli Margherita (Mrs. Wormwood), and Lauren Ward (Miss Honey). 

Producers previously announced the four girls sharing the title role: Sophia Gennusa, Oona Laurence, Bailey Ryon and Milly Shapiro; as well as Olivier Award-winner Bertie Carvel* who will reprise the role of Miss Trunchbull for Broadway. Each of the girls is making her Broadway debut.
